We’ve Won An Award!
Walking Primrose is officially an award-winning business!
Last Thursday, myself and my partner attended the South West StartUp Awards that was hosted at the Clock Factory in Bristol.
The StartUp Awards recognises the achievements of amazing entrepreneurs from all around the UK and is sponsored by the likes of Starling Bank, BT skills for Tomorrow, Tiny Rebel, British Business Bank and lots more. It is currently the only national and regional awards to celebrate start up businesses.
It all started back in March when I received an email from the awards to tell me I was a finalist in their Rising Star category, and I was ecstatic!
I am still so early in my business journey, so to be recognised for my hard work and efforts at this point felt surreal.
Now fast forward to the event, it was a fantastic night with a great atmosphere!
As part of our ticket, we were given tokens for a main meal, dessert and two drinks each. There was a choice of various delicious Jamaican and Sri Lankan cuisine, with a scrumptious pudding from Minto’s Desserts to finish.
The ceremony was hosted by Polly James, who is best known for presenting on Radio X, with Professor Dylan Jones-Evans OBE, founder of the National Start-Up Awards and the UK Fast Growth Fifty index, sharing an introduction about the awards and the remarkable effect start up businesses have in the UK.
Overall there were 22 categories in this years South West Awards, ranging from Bath StartUp to Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
It was incredible to see the amount of talent the South West has to offer, and to share in celebrating the achievements of every single business.
I was one of seven finalists chosen for the Rising Star Award and honestly, I did not expect to win at all! And to my complete shock, I did win!
Being one of two winners for the category, I gladly share the top spot with the business HUM4NS.
After being announced, I didn’t even realise that Walking Primrose been called! I only clocked it when I finally noticed my face on the screen saying that I’d won.
So as I’ve mentioned before, it is phenomenal to have won an award so early in my business journey.
I was thrilled enough to have been chosen as a finalist out of the thousands of businesses that had applied, but to also be chosen a winner is just truly amazing.
A huge congratulations to the rest of the winners of the South West StartUp Awards 2023, and I look forward to see the exceptional businesses chosen as next years finalists.
I wonder what will be next for Walking Primrose…
