Within Walking Primrose I am always looking for ways to minimise our impact on the environment. Making certain that I am treating our planet and the people on it fairly and kindly. I’ve ensured from the very beginning that I’ve been sustainable, knowing that I need to do more so that my impact grows with Walking Primrose.

Sourcing ethically:

My jewellery is made with 100% recycled Sterling Silver with gemstones that are responsibly sourced. The manufacturer ensures safe and fair working conditions for all their workers. This means paying a fair wage, having a fair working week and keeping to strict anti human trafficking and anti child labour practices. I will only work with manufacturers and suppliers who offer complete transparency and honesty in their practice and uphold the strictest quality and standards in their products and for their workers.

I will be using fair mined gold for the next jewellery collection, with aims to use 100% recycled Gold within the next three years.

Eco-friendly and recyclable packaging:

A lot of heart, thought and soul has been put into the design and materials for the packaging. Less is more so I have minimised packaging as much as possible. The mailer boxes meet the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and Greenguard gold Standards as well as the ink meeting the OCC certification for recyclability. The jewellery gift boxes are FSC certified, the tissue paper is 100% recycled and it is also recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. The leaflets, thank you letters and envelopes are all recyclable and made from recycled materials. Currently, the thank you notecards and stickers are not widely recyclable or made from eco-friendly/sustainable materials but the supplier does get their paper from sustainable sources. I am working hard to find a printer who both offers recyclable, biodegradable and compostable products and the high standards of quality that I pride myself on and that my customers deserve. I would like to encourage my customers to reuse and recycle the packaging as much as possible.

Transparent and honest practice:

I believe wholeheartedly in being honest, transparent and completely open in my business practice. I welcome and encourage customers to get in touch with me with any questions or suggestions at hello@walkingprimrose.co.uk about this journey to becoming more sustainable.
